Meet the Dashi, a simple and straightforward utility knife crafted from ~100 year old sawmill blades.
Specs: The knife measures 13.8cm with a 4cm cutting edge. It weighs 70 grams and is 3.5mm thick.
Cut directly from a mid 20th century sawmill blade, the Dashi design is heavily influenced by the traditional Japanese kiridashi knife. The Dashi has no ornamentation of any kind. It is a cutting tool made to be used and worked hard.
The cutting edge is short and flat, well suited to most tasks (ie. box opening, leather or paper cutting, carpentry marking, etc) while also being very easy to sharpen and maintain.
The optional wrap is done with hemp, which is then soaked in resin and set to cure until it is rock hard. This means the handle will never unravel, providing you with a surefooted grip for all of your needs.
The Dashi also comes with a hand crafted black leather slip sheath, which is low profile and tucks easily into pants pockets, purses or packs,
Must be 18 years or older to purchase. Know your local knife laws.
